Abstract

505,254. Pelmets. SMART, L. R. Nov. 4, 1937, Nos. 30203/37 and 14935/38. [Class 52 (v)] An adjustable window pelmet comprises sheet-metal panels slidably connected together by means of ribs at their top edges, the rib on one panel forming a guide for the rib on another panel, means being also provided for connecting the panels at their lower portions. The pelmet comprises a centre member 1, two side members 2, and two intermediate members 3 slidably engaging one another. The centre and side members are bent to a ,channel section 7 at the top edge, the horizontal flange 17a being extended rearwardly for fixing the pelmet to projecting ledges on the window frame, and carrying an angle plate 8 closing the rear face of the channel. The intermediate members 3 are bent to channel section at 5 and slidably engage the channel 7, a strip of wood 6 being fixed in the channel 5. The lower edges of the intermediate members slide in channel strips 9 fixed to the other members. Lugs 16a may be provided for attachment. In modifications the channel section guide projects rearwardly from the face of the pelmet and the slide may comprise a flange on the intermediate member. The sliding parts may have a pin-and-slot connection. The side members have portions projecting at right-angles to space the pelmet from the window.
