Abstract

[Also in Division A4] A vertically (or horizontally) sliding window or door for a cabinet has an equal number of fixed panels 11 and sliding sashless panels 17 which alternate with one another in the closed position and the sliding panels 17 are secured to a supporting member 18 to move together, in a closed guiding frame whose frame members are each formed of two longitudinal sections 1, 2, the former having a central part and flanges 3, 4, and the section 2 being formed by a plate having a part 7 which covers the flange 3, and has bent over edge portion 8 which covers flange 3, the section 2 being extended along the opposite edge to form a part 9 of width equal to that of flange 4, with a step between parts 7 and 9, the part 9 and flange 4 forming a channel to contain the edges of the panels 11, 17. The fixed panels are locked in the frame by projections 14 on channel strips 12 fitting into holes 13 on section 1 and the sliding panels 17 are secured at opposite sides to supporting members 18 by projections on channel strips 19 with holes through which bolts &c pass through to holes 22 on the member 18 which slides resiliently by leaf springs inserted therebetween and the section 2, and held in slits 26 in the members 18. Coinciding holes 5, 27 in the members 1 and 2 are provided for screws &c to secure the frame to the window aperture surround. In an alternative frame construction (Fig. 6 not shown), part 1 is of channel section and part 2 of L-section, with one limb along the web of part 1 and the other limb parallel to a flange of part 1.
