Abstract

504,925. Soot - blowers. WILSON, A. M. Oct. 27, 1937, No. 29317. [Class 99 (ii)] A soot-blower shown in sectional elevation in Figs. 1a and 1b has a rotatable ejector tube 1 held against endwise movement and a member 11 which can be rotated to and fro to reciprocate a fluid control-valve such as 7 which during its reciprocation oscillates the ejector. The member 11 may be threaded and reciprocate the valve by a nut 10. A projecting pin on the valve engages a slot 15 having a straight part and a helical or inclined part so that during reciprocation of the valve the helical or inclined part of the slot turns the valve. The valve has a pin-and-slot or key and keyway connecting it to the ejector so that the ejector is given a to-and-fro rotation. The valve may be a sleeve valve as shown having ports 7<1> which are brought into register with ports 3<1> in the casing through which the cleaning fluid enters or it may be a piston valve working in a sleeve connected to the ejector.
