Fixed-abutment type.-A handle for operating the shafts of kerbside &c. pumps comprises a spring portion e which flexes when the turning resistance of the operating shaft exceeds a certain limit. The spring is connected at one end to a handle a and at the other to a yoke g pivoted to a block j engaging the shaft. A spring pin m in the yoke engages a recess o in the block during operation. In another form, a spring block is used instead of the handle a and spring e.
