[Class 137] In an air (or gas) distributing device of the kind having a number of successively larger, outwardly flaring hollow members providing between them a number of outwardly flaring air passages, the dimensions and dispositions of the members are so arranged that an inward flow of air takes place between some of them, and that the inwardly and outwardly flowing air streams are mixed within the device. In Fig. 1, the members 1 to 5 have progressively increasing amounts of flare, but their inner ends are in different planes. The inner edge of member 5, is laterally outward from a continuation of the main air duct A, the inner edge of member 4 being laterally inward from the inner edge of member 5, and nearer the outlet end of the duct A. The inner end of member 3 is disposed outwardly both laterally and longitudinally from the inner edge of member 4, while the inner edge of member 2 is laterally inward from that of member 3 but nearer to the inlet A. The inner edge of member 1 is disposed, laterally outwardfrom that of member 2 but considerably further from the inlet A. The outer edges of the members may lie in a hemispherical surface as shown, or in one plane. The air entering through inlet A passes freely through passageways b, d and f but produces a suction effect on passageways a, c and e so that room air is drawn in and mixed with fresh air from the inlet A. In Fig. 2, air from duct A<1> flows freely through passages a<1>, c<1> and el, some air passing through the inner portions of the passages b<1> and d<1>, and a suction effect being produced in the outer portions of passages b<1> and d<1>. In Fig. 4, members 2c and 3c and passages b<3> and d4 are closed along their inner ends, the innermost member 1c being also closed inwardly, but numerous small openings 7, made by pressing out tongues 8, are formed in the members, through which openings air is drawn from cavities f<3>, b<3> and a<3> into passages a<3>, c<3> and e<3> to mix with the incoming air from duct A.
