A duct A for a flow in a direction C of fluid in a part of which separation or turbulence is liable to occur in boundary layer zones D and E at a bend B includes a venturi H having porous or slotted walls M communicating with an annular conduit formed between the wall of the duct and an outer wall J, the conduit terminating at porous panels F and G let into the walls of the duct in zones D and E whereby air is drawn from the boundary layer in said zones into the conduit and entrained into the main stream at H.
