730,009. Boundary layer control. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and HOOPER, M. S. March 12, 1953 [Jan. 2, 1952], No. 201/52. Class 4. A duct A for a flow in a direction C of fluid in a part of which separation or turbulence is liable to occur in boundary layer zones D and E at a bend B includes a venturi H having porous or slotted walls M communicating with an annular conduit formed between the wall of the duct and an outer wall J, the conduit terminating at porous panels F and G let into the walls of the duct in zones D and E whereby air is drawn from the boundary layer in said zones into the conduit and entrained into the main stream at H.
