Abstract

501,349. Automatic volume control. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., FEWINGS, D. J., and KEMP, R. J. Aug. 25, 1937, No. 23302. [Class 40 (v)] The A.V.C. system of a television receiver is controlled by line or frame synchronizing impulses which are transformed into modified saw-tooth wave form before rectification to produce the control potential. The pulses are applied to a triode 3 whose anode-cathode circuit includes a condenser 4 which is charged through a resistance 5 to substantially the anode voltage in a period slightly less than that between successive impulses. The condenser is rapidly discharged through valve 3 when a pulse is applied to the grid. The voltage across condenser 4 is rectified by a diode 10 and used after smoothing to control the gain of the receiver.
