[Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a television or like system, the wave-form of the relaxation oscillator at the receiver is made to conform with that at the transmitter by means of a correcting-wave derived at the transmitter and sent with the synchronizing signal. As shown in Fig. 1, the condenser 2 is charged from a D.C. source through a constantcurrent device such as a screen-grid valve 5, and is discharged through a device 1 when a synchronizing signal is applied at B to its grid. The charging-valve 5 has its control grid biassed by a fixed source connected across the terminals D, E and a correcting-wave is also applied to this grid at the terminals E, F. Thus if curve a represents the saw-tooth wave-form at the transmitter, the rectilinear rising portion of the receiver wave-form c is modified by applying to the grid of valve 5 a wave b so as to result in a curve similar to a.
