Abstract

501,147. Sifting -apparatus. NOVA DEL, Ltd., and HOBBS, E. M. Sept. 4, 1937, No. 24179. [Class 117] Relates to plansifter brushes which are caused to move unidirectionally around a central guide in a plansifter tray by the movement of the tray in combination with rearwardly inclined bristles engaging the sieve mesh, and consists, in providing the edge which lies adjacent to the guide with bristles or tufts which are mainly perpendicular thereto and the side which engages the outer wall of the sieve with inclined bristles. The Figure shows the application to a brush of substantially D-shape as described in Specification 353,145. The guiding edge bristles 6 are short and stiff relatively to the others and are preferably mounted in a strip 7 secured to the edge of the brush frame 3 which may be stamped from a hard composition. The guiding edge 5 may be straight, as shown, or slightly concave or convex. The bristles 4 on the curved side of the brush engage the outer wall of the sieve and are inclined.
