Abstract
499,816. Fusible cut - outs. WEST & CO., Ltd., A., and BABLER, E. July 26, 1937, No. 20606. [Class 38 (i)] An electric circuit interrupter comprises a support of inorganic material to which is applied a metallic layer so thin that arcing at less than the rupturing current destroys it. No organic material of any kind is associated with the layer. The support may be of alumina, glass, quartz, porcelain, mica, vitreous enamel or magnesia and the layer may be of platinum, iridium, silver or gold. In one method of applying the layer lines are drawn on the support by means of a pen and a solution of platinum and the article then fired. Succesc sive layers may be similarly applied and fired.
