Abstract
499,082. Windshield-cleaners. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. April 13, 1938, No. 11432. Convention date, April 24, 1937. [Class 138 (i)] The angle of oscillation of a wiper is increased, in order to park the wiper, by lengthening the crank arm which produces the oscillation. The wiper 1 is oscillated by a pinion 3 and a rack 4 on a slide 11 which is reciprocated by a crank-pin 9 on a crank arm 8. The arm 8 is slidable on an eccentric sleeve 6 which is secured. to the motor shaft 5 by a pin 7, the pin serving also, under the influence of a spring 14, to lock the arm 8 to the shaft by its engagement with one or other of two grooves 12, 15 in the arm. During normal operation of the wiper, the pin is in the groove 12. To park the wiper, the arm 8 is moved inwardly on the sleeve 6 by means of a plunger 13. When the shaft 5 has made a half-revolution and the plunger 13 is released, the pin 7 engages in the groove 15, so that the arm 8 is lengthened. The arm 8 may be moved along the sleeve 6 electromagnetically.
