[Class 114] A laminated wooden airscrew or blade is formed from a composite wooden block built up of superimposed and glued laminae of different densities, some of these being formed of compressed wood and the remainder of natural wood or of compressed wood of different density. Laminae of a higher density which are themselves composed of wood veneers glued together and suitably compressed are used to form a core between the laminae of natural or lesser compressed wood. The whole assembly is machined to give the outer form to the blades. The density and strength of the compressed wood laminae may be uniform or graduated, such graduations being effected in the production by interleaving shorter veneers between the main veneers at the parts where greater density is required. The composite boards may be composed of wooden veneers interleaved with fabric or material such as gauze, or could consist of artificial material of fibrous character.formed by bonding fibrous materials with synthetic resin.
