Abstract

498,636. Printing - surfaces. HEINZ, F., and HEINZ, 0. March 14, 1938, No. 7849. Convention date, April 10, 1937. [Class 100 (ii)] A mirror-script printing-sheet is produced by printing the front face with ordinary ink by means of a forme I containing ordinary type and the back with copying ink in mirrorscript by means of a positive forme II. The forme II is prepared by transferring an impression from the forme I to a zinc plate and then etching. The formes are inked by rollers 1, 2 and are mounted on reciprocating beds co-operating with sheet-carrying cylinders 3. In modifications : (1) a reciprocating bed carries a positive forme printing in mirror-script on the back of a sheet in copying ink, and an ordinary impression in ordinary ink is simultaneously produced on the front by means of an ink-cloth placed behind the sheet on the impression cylinder; (2) the forme on the reciprocating bed of (1) prints an ordinary impression, and a mirror-script impression in copying ink is printed on the other side by means of the ink-cloth ; (3) the ink-cloth of (1) is omitted so that the mirror-script impression only is printed.
