Abstract

496,753. Sheet delivery apparatus. DRESDEN - LEIPZIGER SCHNELLPRESSEN FABRIK AKT.-GES., and LANG, K. T. April 5, 1937, No. 9591. [Class 100 (i)] In a sheet-delivery apparatus for printing- machines of the kind employing endless gripperchains, the last gripper-chain 11, Fig. 2, can be arranged to take sheets 1 either directly from the preceding chain 2 or indirectly through an interposed gripper-device 9 whereby the sheets are delivered to the pile 18 with either side up as required. For this purpose, each gripper on the chain 11 has two sets of jaws 15, 16 for co-operating with the grippers 10, 3 on the chain 2 and the interposed grippercylinder 9 respectively, and the driving-gear 17 of the chain 11 is mounted on its shaft 14 by an eccentric bushing whereby it can be brought into mesh either with the gear 6 of the chain 2 or the gear 8 of the cylinder 9. A cross-slide coupling is provided between the gear 17 and the sprocket 12 of the chain 11. The gear 8 meshes with the gear 6 and can be connected to the shaft 7 of the cylinder 9 by a coupling K, Fig. 5. A proof sheet may be delivered to a table 30, Fig. 3, by moving the coupling K in the reverse direction. A mutilated gear 8<1> is connected thereby to the shaft 7, and at the same time, a similar gear 6<1>, keyed on the shaft 4 of the gear 6, is moved into alignment therewith, with the non- toothed parts in register. A cam groove 26 on the gear 6<1> engages a pin 28 on a lever 27 so as to oscillate the lever, which by means of a forked end engaging a pin 25 on the gear 81 brings the toothed parts into engagement and causes the cylinder 9 to be given one revolution. The members K, 6<1> are retracted automatically at the end of the revolution.
