495,446. Trench mortars. SEPEWE EKSPORT PRZEMYSU OBRONNEGO SPOKA Z OGRANICZONA ODPOWIEDZIALNOSCIA, and CIESIELSKI, R. May 11, 1937, No. 13451. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to trench mortars of the kind in which the range is varied by venting the gun gases from the barrel 1 through a passage 4 into an exhaust tube 3, the passage being adjusted by a rotary cone-shaped valve 5. According to the invention, the valve 5 is locked in adjusted position by a screw 8 exerting a force in the direction of the axis of the valve 5. The valve is shaped at 15 to provide variations of the passage 4 which suit a uniform range scale on a knob 13 by which the valve is turned. After adjusting the valve, the screw 8 is rotated by a handle 11 to press the valve rearwardly on its seat and lock it securely in adjusted position.
