Abstract

495,088. Optical sound - recording apparatus. BACK, F. G. Jan. 29, 1937, No. 2669. Void. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1936. [Class 40 (ii)] Sound is optically recorded on a film 10 by projecting a light beam from a source 1 and condensing lens 2 on to an inclined mirror 3 which reflects the beam past a modulating shutter 5, vibrating in accordance with the sound, in the direction A-B, on to a cylindrical mirror 4, from which the modulated beam is reflected by way of a further inclined mirror 8 and lens 9 on to the film. The axis x-x of the cylindrical mirror lies in or near the plane of vibration of the shutter 5. The shutter may lie on the axis x-x and be oscillated about a fixed point at one end of the shutter.
