Abstract
481,461. Optical sound - recording. KLANGFILM GES. Feb. 20, 1937, Nos. 5170 and 5171. Convention dates, Feb. 20, 1936 and June 24, 1936. [Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] In an optical photosound recording apparatus, a transparent reflecting surface is provided in the path of the recording beam in conjunction with an additional optical device in the path of the main beam or the reflected beam so arranged that the real slot and the slot projection on the film are thrown on to a single screen where they can be simultaneously observed. In the form shown in the Figure, light from a source 11 passes lens 12, screen 13, prism 14, light valve 15, '' real " shutter 16, " noiseless " shutter 17, lens 18, transparent mirror 19, and objective 22 on its way to film 25. Part of this light is reflected by mirror 19 to lens 20, and concave mirror 21, and back to screen 24 of observing device 23. Also light from the film passes back through lens 22 and is reflected by mirror 19 to screen 24. To dim the primary image on the screen to the same intensity as the second one coming from the film, the concave mirror 21 is preferably blackened. In other forms, the mirrors 19, 21 and lens 20 of Fig. 1 are replaced by a compound prism, of which various forms are shown.
