Abstract

434,376. Optical sound recording apparatus. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA, 30, Rockfeller Plaza, New York, U.S.A. May 11, 1934, No. 14329. Convention date, June 8, 1933. [Class 40 (ii)] In the photographic recording of sound, a light beam is moved in one direction in accordance with the impulses to be recorded and in a different direction in accordance with the envelope of these impulses. The records may be made by projecting on to a film 19, light emitted from a lamp 10 through a condenser 11, a mask 12 and lens 13, and reflected by an horizontally oscillating mirror 14 through a lens 15, slit 16 and optical system 17, 18. The mask 12 is vertically oscillated in response to the amplitude of the sounds to minimize ground noise, two records such as A, B, Fig. 4, being made. The records are reproduced by the apparatus described in Specification 406,872.
