495,012. Pipe joints. STOOP, A., KOHNKE, J. F., and MULDER, T. April 27, 1938, No. 12562. [Class 99 (i)] Packing 11 is compressed in a sleeve 3 around the abutting pipe ends by glands 4 and wedges 6 which pass through slots in the sleeve to engage the glands, the packing being compressed on to a flange collar or flared end of the pipes. The flange may be bent back as at 2, a metal wedge ring 9 being interposed between flange and packing.
