[Class 35] A rotor has a squirrel-cage winding in slots near its outer periphery and a second winding comprising bars in two sets of inner slots, the inner slots being disposed alternately at different radial depths, and the bars of the second winding are connected to a common ring at one end whilst at the other end they are connected together in pairs. In the form shown, the outer slots a contain bars 4 connected together by end-rings 6 while the slots b, c contain bars 7, 10 connected together at one 'end in pairs by connectors 9. At the end of the rotor not shown, all the bars 7, 10 are connected by a common end ring.
