Abstract
494,632. Mounting engines. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Dec. 6, 1937, No. 33710. Convention date, Feb. 20. [Class 79 (iii)] In motor-vehicle enginemountings of the kind in which the arm of an oscillation damper for neutralizing torque reactions moves with play between fixed stops so as to be inoperative for engine oscillations of small amplitude, as described in Specification 483,172, soft rubber facings are provided on the stops so that the impacts of the arm therewith are cushioned. As shown, a double acting hydraulic oscillation damper 13 is carried on a lateral extension 12 of an engine which is mounted upon front and rear cushions so as to be rockable about an upwardly inclined longitudinal axis, the arm 14 of the oscillation damper being located between half-round rubber cushions 15 mounted between horizontal flanges 16, 17 on a bracket 18 rigidly secured to the vehicle frame 11. Owing to the initial yield of the rubber cushions, the movements of the damper arm 14 are not resisted until the engine oscillations reach a certain amplitude.
