In a motor vehicle engine suspension comprising an auxiliary frame member resiliently mounted on the vehicle main frame 10, the member is V or fork shaped and receives the engine unit between its limbs 18, 19, the unit 14 being mounted thereon at 29, 30, near the ends of the limbs and being additionally abutted against the member away from the ends. In the embodiment shown the main frame 10 terminates in prongs 11, 12, interconnected by a front member 13. Resiliently connected by rubber cushions 25, 26, to the member 13 is a bracket 21 on the auxiliary frame member and the limbs 18, 19 of the member are resiliently connected at 23, 24, to the prongs of the main frame. The unit 14 formed of the engine, clutch and change speed gearing, and driving through a cardan shaft 16 the rear wheels (not shown), has its mountings 29, 30 of a rubber shear form disposed a distance e forward of the centre of gravity S of the unit. The additional abutment of the unit is formed by a member 31 having one end screwed to the engine and its other connected by a rubber shear mounting 33 to the bracket 21. The front wheels may be suspended and sprung from the auxiliary frame. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, (not shown) the centre of gravity of the unit is disposed forwardly of the resilient mountings of the unit on the limbs of the auxiliary frame. The engine alone may form the unit, more than one mounting 33 longitudinally displaced relative to the mountings 29, 30 may be provided, and the limbs of the auxiliary frame may be formed of a tubular or box-sectioned member.
