759,763. Motor vehicle engine mounting. LEYLAND MOTORS, Ltd. June 17, 1954 March 17, 1953], No. 7362/53. Class 79 (3). In a motor vehicle having a transversely mounted rear engine 4 formed as a unit with a bevel gear casing 5 and a change-speed gear casing 6, the unit is yieldably mounted from longitudinal frame members 1, 2 by a pair of supports 7, 9 at each end of the engine, the lines of thrust of the pair near the driving end of the engine meeting approximately on a vertical plane parallel to the crank-shaft axis through the centre of gravity of the engine, the unit having a further yieldable support 13, the line of thrust of which is approximately horizontal and level with the crank-shaft. As shown, a bracket 14 on the casing 6 is adjustably supported between rubber pads on a bracket 15 on the frame longitudinal member 2, horizontal movement ot the casing 6 being prevented by an adjustable stay 16 connecting the bracket 14 to a further bracket 17 on the member 2.
