March 20, 1922, [Convention date] Secondary frames; three-point suspension. - A motor vehicle with four driving and steering wheels has two underframes, one of which supports the engine, gear-box, reduction-gear and the driver's seat, and the other supports the vehicle-body, and the two underframes are connected longitudinally and are free to rock transversely relatively to one another. The main underframe 1 extends beyond the back axle 8 and is supported at its front end on two semielliptic springs 2, 2<1> on the front axle 3 and at its rear end on a spring 4 mounted on a hinge 6 on the back axle with its axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The auxiliary underframe is supported at its rear end by two springs 12, 12<1> on the rear axle, and at its front end on a rod 10 disposed between a spherical recess on the front cross-piece 11 of the auxiliary underframe, and a similar recess on the gear-box 9. According to the modification shown in Fig. 3, the rod 10' is hinged to the auxiliary frame for movement in one plane and its lower end is hinged for movement in two planes about a coupling 24 on the gear-box.
