Abstract
494,609. Mangles and wringers. TAYLOR & WILSON, Ltd., KENNEDY, A., and HINDLE, C. July 26, 1937, Nos. 20579 and 34335. [Class 138 (ii)] In a folding wringer the turnover frame A and the stationary part, which may be a washing-machine D, are formed with interengaging surfaces a, a which become interlocked by imparting a slight lateral movement to the wringer when in its operative position. The wringer may be mounted on a rod B carried in bearings C secured to the washing-machine and the rod is formed with a turned over end b<3> in which a pin b<4> carried by the limbs of a bifurcated cam lever b<5> is received. On rotating the lever so that the cam face contacts with the side of the turnover frame the latter is moved to the left to effect the interengagement of the parts a, c. When the cam lever is moved to the position shown, a spring moves the turnover frame slightly to the right and allows it to be lowered. A table cover may be removably placed over the washing-machine to serve as a board for receiving the goods as they come from the wringer, and when the latter is moved to its inoperative position the table cover may be raised somewhat and placed over both the washing-machine and the lowered mangle and may be locked thereto by causing a stud, projecting downwardly from its under surface, to engage between the interengaging surfaces a, c. In the form shown in Fig. 6 the cam lever is replaced by a screw h<4> having a portion h<6> of the head h<5> engageable in a countersink a4 in the turnover frame. On screwing up, the interengaging surfaces a<2>, b<1> are moved into interlocking engagement. The wringer may be entirely removed by removing a screw a<6> at the other end of the turnover frame. On releasing the screw h4 the wringer frame is automatically moved slightly to the right so that it may be folded down. The table and stationary support may be provided with three sets of hinge members, two of which are used for supporting the table as a work receiving board and two being used when the table is being used as a cover.
