493,906. Cutting paper board &c. MORRISON, J. L. M., and THRISSELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 12, 1937, No. 25604 /38. Divided out of 493,908. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] A cyclically variable speed driving-mechanism comprises a four - bar kinematic chain including driving and driven shafts one of which is adjustable so as to lie on either side of a plane containing the axis of the other, being movable through a curved path so as to obtain the full range of maximum and minimum speeds at one angular position of the driven shaft. The mechanism is particularly applicable to cut-off mechanism in which lengths of fibre board &c., are cut from a moving web, means being provided for varying the length of cut. The mechanism comprises a driving shaft 100, crank 40, link 50, and a crank 60 on a driven shaft 61 which is out of alignment with the driving shaft. The shaft 100 is connected by gears 101, 102 and links 104 to a shaft 103 in fixed bearings so that the shaft 100 is adjustable along an arcuate path which approximates to the above-mentioned curved path and which intersects the axis of the driven shaft.
