[Class 7 (ii)] A device for silencing gaseous currents particularly the intake to a carburetter, comprises a wall of sound-absorbing material 2 arranged over the end of the conduit 1 through which the gases flow. The wall may be of felt, cotton, cork, agglomerated textile fibres, &c. arranged in a cup-shaped member 3 of wood, " Bakelite " (Registered Trade Mark), &c. secured to the conduit by lugs 6. A grating or gauze covering 4 may be provided. The cup 3 may extend beyond the end of the conduit as shown, or stop short thereof, and a second wall 2<1> arranged in a cup 3<1> opening in the opposite direction may also be fitted to the conduit.
