493,344. Sliding - clasp fastenings. ALTHAUS, W. F. April 28, 1938, No. 12690. Convention date, April 28, 1937. [Class 44] A sliding-clasp fastener in which the slider has a portion 4 of its top plate hinged so as to open if the engagement of the fastener elements is obstructed has the pull tab or chain 11 so connected that in the normal operation of the slider the hinged portion 4 is pressed down by a lever-like action. For example, ,the hinged portion 4 may be pressed by a lever piece 10 to which the pull chain 11 is attached by a slot connection 13 so disposed that less pressure is exerted when the slider is being moved in the direction to open the fastener.
