Abstract

540,007. Sliding-clasp fasteners. UNITED CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. May 15, 1941, No. 6272. Convention date, June 25, 1940. [Class 44] In a sliding-clasp fastener in which a pivotally movable pull tab 9 has means such as a tongue 17 serving to lock the slider 4 against movement when the tab is folded down into inoperative position, as shown, spring means are provided always urging the tab towards the locking position, so that locking is effected automatically when the tab is released. As shown, a coiled spring 19 is housed in an aperture 8 in a lug 7 provided on the upper wing 5 of the slider, and the tab is pivotally mounted within the spring. One end 21 of the spring bears against the face of wing 5, the other end 22 being passed out through a slot 16 in the tab and bent over to bear against a face of the tab. Slot 10 connected with slot 16 receives the lug 7. The part 11 of the tab is split at 12 to allow the limbs 13 to be temporarily separated in pivotally mounting the tab by disposing the part 11 within the spring and aperture 8.
