Abstract

493,261. Detachable propelling - installations; exhaust-silencers. KOVACS, G., and KOVACS, S. March 7, 1938, No. 7045. [Class 114] [Also in Group XXVII] In an outboard motor the silencer casing 19 surrounds the propeller shaft, and a jet of water is directed through a pipe 23 from the exhaust pipe jacket 20 on to the silencer casing. The casing contains baffles 25 having openings 27 at the top, the exhaust gases leaving through an opening 28 at the top of the casing. A plate 33 for keeping the propeller under water has means for varying its inclination comprising a bolt 32 and interengaging serrations 37 on the plate and skeg 29.
