[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XII] A continuous metal-heating furnace having a " walking-beam " conveyer of the type in which the beams a move in succession upwardly, forwardly, downwardly, and rearwardly, is fitted with a rapid discharge device such as rollers e, Fig. 1, or endless chains f, Fig. 2, the end sections g of the beams a extending over the greater part of the length of the discharge device and being supported by movable supports. In Fig. 2 the supports for the end sections g are similar to the other beam supports b and are mounted on the same carrier c, while, with the roller discharge device, shown in Fig. 1, the end supports h are moved vertically in fixed guides in synchronism with the vertical movements of the supports b.
