Abstract

492,470. Conductors for dynamoelectric machines. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. June 15, 1937, No. 16578. Convention date, June 15, 1936. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXII] In making a squirrel-cage rotor, the conductors extend beyond the core at least at one end and are bent against the core and into engagement with each other. Their ends may then be fused together. In the form shown, conductors are placed in the core slots with their ends 26 extending at both ends of the core and the core is placed in a press, Fig. 10, having sleeves 98, 130 which force the conductor ends together as shown and against the core. The sleeves are carried by bearings 90, 138 which enable them to move angularly while pressure is being applied. The conductor ends are finally fused together to form end rings 200, Fig. 5. The conductors may be parallel to the core axis or skewed.
