Abstract
492,198. Carding - engines; burr - removing apparatus. HARRISON, R. D., DEAN, W. H., and CARTER, F. April 10, 1937, No. 10262. [Class 120 (i)] In extracting burrs from wool &c. the material is fed to a licker-in L and without burring is .taken therefrom in two paths over adjacent and oppositely rotating lickers L<1>, L<2> ; L, L<5> to a final licker L<3> corresponding to the usual fourth licker, burring rollers B, B<2> being provided below the first licker in each path and burring rollers B<1>, B<3> above the second lickers. Part of the material on the first licker L is taken off by a divider D and passes through the upper path which comprises the lickers L<1>, L<2>, preferably of the Morel type, a tightening roller T, dividers or transfer rollers A, A<1>, A<2>, burr rollers B, B <1>, and a brush roller C to the final licker L<3>. The lower path of the material is from the main licker L to lickers L<4>, L<5>, preferably of the Morel type and thence to the final licker L<3>, the apparatus comprising also brush rollers C<1> C<2>, a tightener roller T<1>, and burr rollers B<2>, B<3>. The treated material is transferred from the licker L<3> to the swift S by a divider A'. Scrapers F, F<1> and guards G, G<1>, G<2> are also provided and, if desired, the brush roller C<1> may be omitted.
