Abstract

1,231,039. Carding machine. NAGOYA METALLIC CARD CLOTHING CO. Ltd. 28 Aug., 1968 '[19 April, 1968], No. 37630/70. Divided out of 1,231,038. Heading DIN. A carding apparatus comprises a doffer 20, a roller comb 30 wound with a metallic wire having teeth of sections which are defined by a smooth outwardly convex curve and a smooth web roller 40 positioned below a line joining the centres of the comb and doffer and arranged closely adjacent thereto. A fibre collecting and withdrawing device for receiving the fibres from the comb is also provided. The wire can be of the form claimed in the parent Specification 1,231,038. The roller comb 30 is rotated in the same direction as the doffer 20 but with a lesser surface speed. The smooth web roller 40 can be rotated at a surface speed of 50-200% of the roller comb 30.
