Abstract
300,751. Whiteley, W., and Priestley, J. W. Oct. 4, 1927. Carding-engines ; burring-apparatus. -In an arrangement for removing burrs &c. in a woollen carding-engine the material is taken from the apron G and feed-rollers F by a licker-in E upon which it is worked by a roller H, rotating more slowly than the licker-in E, and a card covered roller J. The wool is thereby opened and the burrs &c. are brought to the surface so that as they pass round under the second licker-in D they fall to the ground. Further opening takes place between the second and third lickers-in D, A, and the remaining burrs &c. fall out as the material passes round the angle stripper B to the breast C. A perforated tray M, eccentric to the licker-in E, is arranged below it to preserve loose fibres and to allow any burrs &c. to fall through to the floor.
