Abstract

466,078. Slivers of rayon staple fibres. OSHIMA, R. July 23, 1936, No. 20411. [Class 120 (iii)] A number of bands of continuous rayon filaments are simultaneously cut at an angle to the direction of travel of the bands, and the staple fibres so formed are collected on a single conveyer while maintaining them substantially parallel. In the drawings, bands of filaments 10 are fed to cylinders 2 which are provided with helical grooves 12 co-operating with cutting knives 4 mounted on belts 5. The bands of staple fibres produced are collected one above the other on the conveyer 1 and are delivered at 13 for spinning into yarn. The usual lapping, carding, dressing, spreading, and like processes are not necessary.
