[Class 59] In a jaw crusher in which the moving jaw is pivoted at the top and is actuated by an eccentrically operated slide block in vertical alignment with the pivot, the side plate members of the movable jaw move with the jaw and close the sides of the crushing cavity, removable liner plates being attached to the side plates. As shown the moving jaw is pivoted at its upper end on an axle 12 and is oscillated at its lower end by an eccentric 52 operating a sheave 54 slidable in guides 53 in a recess in the jaw. The sides of the jaw are flanged and carry renewable side plates 67, 68 and shaped plates 74, 75, the lower ends 78, 79 of the latter acting as wedges to retain the crushing plates 61, 60 in position. Further side plates 71, 72 are wedged in the flanges alongside the jaw plates 61, 60. The fixed jaws 107 are each pivoted on an axle 96 and are retained in position by a bolt 144 and spring 147. The fixed jaws each bear against a block 143 which moves rearwardly, when an uncrushable object enters the jaws, against the pressure of springs 122, Fig. 4. The block 143 enters a recess in a bridge piece 120 and its distance from the fixed jaw is adjusted by horseshoe shaped shims 150. A movable guard plate 115 bears on top of the fixed jaw. As applied to a crusher with a single crushing space a lip extends from the curved part 76 of the plate 74 to form a lead-in lip. The machine is lubricated from a pump 200, Fig. 2, the oil passing to a pipe 212 and thence by a central bore in the cam-shaft to each of the bearings. An extension 227 of the pipe 228 leads oil to a central bore in the axle 12 and thence to the bearings, the overflow returning through a pipe 34 to a sump 36. Oil sealing plates 219 protect the eccentric bearing and other plates 225, 226 seal the main bearings. The ends of the axle 12 are sealed by rings 26.
