Abstract
526,317. Power hammers. ALLIANCE MACHINE CO. March 13, 1939, No. 8031. Convention date, March 28, 1938. [Class 83 (iv)] The bases 10 of the frames 5 carrying the guides 7 for the ram of a drop hammer are provided with V-shaped projections 11 engaging corresponding recesses in the anvil 2. The projections may extend crosswise of the hammer to prevent relative movement from front to back. Oil cups 15 and oil passages are provided to secure lubrication of the interengaging surfaces. Bolts 20 provided with coil springs 22 secure the frames to the anvil. Scale is prevented from entering the bearing surfaces by spring metal sheets 38 provided at their lower edges with lugs 39 and located by lugs 41 and recess 40. Cross adjustment of the frames is effected by wedges 25 with notched upper surfaces engaged by co-operating notches in clamps 31 located in guides 33 and secured to the anvil by bolts 34 fitted with springs 36.
