Abstract
491,677. Electric lamps. GUICHARD, V. J. C. June 3, 1937, Nos. 15457 and 15458. Convention dates, June 22, 1936 and Nov. 4, 1936. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iii)] In an electric-lamp support adapted to be worn as spectacles, the lamp switch is operated by a pivotally foldable part of the support. In one form, leads 12, 15 in the front part 1, Figs. 2, 4, 5, are connected by springs to contacts 12<2>, 15<2> adapted to engage the ends of leads 12<1>, 15<1> in the pivoted ear-pieces 2 to close the circuit of the lampbulb 8 screwed in a reflector 7, detachably mounted in an opening 4 by engaging lateral edges in grooves 9, 10. The reflector is connected with the leads 12 and the central contact 13 of the lamp-bulb engages a resilient metal bar 14 connected with the leads 15. The part 1 is formed with a nose-piece 3 and the reflector 7 with a bent extension 7<1> to bear against the forehead. The support is preferably formed of moulded insulating-material such as hard rubber, glass or vulcanite. The leads 12<1>, 15<1> may be connected with electric cells 17 detachably mounted in clips 16. One of the cells may be replaced by a metal case connected with a lead terminating in a combined transformer and plug coupling for connection with a mains supply. In a second form, the cells 17 are mounted in a hollow front part 1, Fig. 7, and the nose-piece 3 is pivoted for controlling the circuit. The nosepiece is mounted on a central terminal 25 by means of a metal plate 24 adapted to engage contacts 26 but notched at 27 to disengage the contacts when the nose-piece is folded against the part 1. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an electric-battery lamp comprising a clip 36, Fig. 10 (Cancelled), for attaching to the peak 34 of a helmet 35. The part of the clip above the peak is formed as a tray for the cells 38 and a sliding switch 43, and the part below the peak is curved to form a clip 46 for a tubular lamp casing 47. The latter has an opening 48 in register with an opening 49 in the clip 46 and is rotatable for directing the light. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
