[Class 102(i)] A ram of a reciprocating pump directly engages an eccentrically mounted ball or roller race c and is prevented from turning during reciprocation.- In the construction shown, a light metal member p is secured to the ram and has members r engaging the sides of the race and wings p<1> forming abutments for the springs q. To prevent offset loads on the plunger due to misalignment, the end of the plunger or the race may be cambered. To prevent offset loads due to the motion of the eccentric, the eccentric shaft may be offset in relation to the axis of the plunger or the end of the plunger may be inclined. Specifications 392,992 and 489,691 are referred to.
