[Class 126] In a gas or like cooker with a plate 6 and bars (not shown) above it, and burners (not shown) between the bars and plate, a metal gauze screen 11 or perforated metal screen is provided on each accessible side, to prevent flames from being blown out at these sides under the influence of draughts. In the gas cooker shown in Fig. 4, in which the frame 5 carrying the bars. is supported by side members 7 with slots 8 near the top, the screens 11 over the slots 8 are carried by short strips of metal 9 with hooked parts 10 at the top, and the screen 11 at the front is mounted on longer strips 9 so as to be beneath the burner cocks. The metal gauze of each screen 11 is mounted on a wire frame 9a, which in the case of the front screen may be pivoted at 12 to the strips 9. The screens may be connected by pivots or chains at the corners, and may be detachable from or fixed to the cooker. If the back of the cooker is accessible, it may be covered by an additional screen. According to the Provisional Specification, the strips 9 may be of spring steel so that the hooked parts 10 grip the frame 5.
