Abstract

490,763. Trousers &c. LYTTLETON, M. L., and UTILUS COAT CO., Ltd. Feb. 22, 1937, No. 5235. [Class 141] Means for adjusting the waistband of trousers, breeches, and like garments, comprise a pair of elastic straps 2 each mounted so as to extend along one side of the waistband in the region of the side seam only, the free end of each strap 2 being provided with a hook or other fastening member 5 for selective engagement with a series of eyes or other complementary fastening members 6 arranged upon the outside of the waistband. Each elastic strap which is preferably concealed in a pocket or tunnel in or on the waistband, comprises a strip of material doubled upon itself, the overlying ends being secured to the waistband at 3, while the looped end supports the hook or other member 5. In a modification, the straps each comprise a single layer of elastic material. According to the Provisional Specification, the straps may be mounted on the inside of the waistband, and pass through a slot to the exterior thereof.
