Abstract

In the construction of elements for dry surface rectifiers having metal blanks upon which the rectifying compound is formed under heat, the exposure, before arriving at the operative temperature, for example, that of oxidizing, is reduced or prevented as by coating with carbon, cupric oxide, graphite, or oil, &c., which coating will, when black, increase the heat absorption rate or will protect the surface until near oxidizing temperature when it will be burnt off.
