Abstract
489,144. Fastenings ; door &c. handles. AVRI PRODUCTS, Ltd., and CLARKE, F. A. Nov. 8, 1937, No. 30529. [Class 44] [Also in Group XIV] A concealed fastening for securing together members having face - to - face contact, and particularly described as applied to securing a handle 26 to a door or piece of furniture 11, comprises a plate 10 secured to one member and having struck up therefrom a pair of rigid hook-form projections 17 and an intermediate resilient tongue 15. A plate 19 secured to the other member has apertures 18 and an intermediate slot 23. The member is cut away to form undercut recesses 27 in conjunction with apertures 18. The projections 17 are entered in the apertures 18 and the members slid relatively to engage the projections behind plate 19, tongue 15 thereupon snapping into engagement in slot 23 with the end of the tongue abutting against the lower edge 24 of the slot to prevent release movement, which can only be effected by disengaging the tongue from the slot, as by the insertion of a pin through a small hole 25 to press the tongue into the plane of plate 10. Either (or both) of members 11, 26 is recessed to accommodate the thickness of the two plates. Any suitable number of rigid projections and resilient tongues may be provided, and the invention is applicable to circular or other members engaged by relative rotary movement.
