Abstract

218,779. Bourke, N. April 27, 1923. Stud-and-slot fastenings. - In a clasp or fastener for belts of the kind in which one part c comprises a socket having a spring-pressed stud e to engage a slot in a plate a comprising the other part, a spring f is provided in the socket member adapted to be compressed when the parts are engaged and serving to eject the plate a from the socket when the stud e is operated to release the parts. The stud e has an upper reduced portion e<2> adapted to pass through a narrow slot b<1> in the plate a communicating with the slot b. A bevelled edge on the plate a co-operates with a bevelled portion of the stud e, when the parts are being connected, to depress the stud so that the reduced portion e<2> may enter the slot b<1>, the stud being afterwards returned to its normal position by a spring e<1> so that the large portion of the stud engages with the slot b to lock the parts together. The parts are released by pressing down the stud e.
