Abstract

488,873. Thermionic valves. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., BENJAMIN, M., and JENKINS, R. O. Feb. 1, 1937, No. 2935. [Class 39 (i)] The core 9 of a thermionic cathode is formed with recesses 10 into which is placed the emissive material 11, this not reaching to the tops of the recesses ; as a result the surfaces 13 remain free of the material 11 and emission only occurs in the gaps between the turns of the grid 12. The ends of long cathodes are similarly protected by ridges on the core.
