Abstract

488,765. Regenerators. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Sept. 1, 1937, No. 23937. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1936. [Class 51 (i)] In a regenerator comprising a number of columns arranged in rows, the columns are spaced apart by bricks the ends of which are in abutting relation to the sides of the columns. Each column comprises bricks 11, Figs. 1 and 3, provided with projections 15 on all four of its sides and bricks 12 which have projections 15 and recesses 16 on two of its sides to receive the ends of the spacing bricks 13, 14. The contacting faces of the bricks are provided with projections and recesses at 17. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the projections 15<1> on the sides of the bricks are arranged obliquely, the projections on one brick being in alignment with the spaces between the projections of an adjacent brick.
