Abstract

372,632. Checkerwork for furnace regenerators. GILBERTSON & CO., Ltd., W., Pontardawe, Glamorgan, THOMAS, E., Greenbank, Coed-Gwilym, Clydach, Swansea. July 29, 1931, No. 21640. [Class 51 (i).] Checkerwork for regenerators is composed of bricks each having a right prismatic main portion a with two spaced parallel side projections b, c on one side and two end projections d, e, the bricks being arranged side by side and end to end with their side and end projections abutting to enclose spaces f, g and form rows with spaces h, i between the rows, the rows in one course being disposed at 90‹ to those in the adjacent course with the spaces f coinciding. In Fig. 3 the bricks A .. F form two rows in one course and the bricks G .. J form two rows of a second course, the spaces g coinciding with the horizontal passages h, i. Some of the courses may be spaced apart by an intermediate course of bricks laid parallel to the rows in one course but located in different relative positions. These intermediate bricks may be made without the projecting end portions d, e. In a modified form of brick the side projections b, c are of truncated triangular prismatic form.
