Abstract

488,397. Ball-and - socket joints of vacuum-cleaner nozzles. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. July 28, 1937, No. 20913. Convention date, Aug. 15, 1936. [Classes 8 (i) and 99 (i)] The nozzle of a vacuum cleaner is fitted with a ball joint 14 through which the air is drawn and which has a pair of opposed pins or balls 17 which directly engage and move in an annular groove 18 in the nozzle parallel to the working face ; alternatively the pins may have bearing sleeves running in the groove. The nozzle has peripheral bristles 21 and a protective band 22 either inside or outside the bristles. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the pins may be mounted in an annular or sectional carrier engaging recesses in the ball. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
