487,442. Casement stays. CARVER, J. D. March 5, 1937, No. 6546. [Class 65 (i)] In a stay of the kind which co-operates with a pin &c., on the window sill by means of a series of holes in the stay, the stay 1 during its engagement with the pin 10 is given a turning movement about its longitudinal axis to cause the parts of the pivot joint 4, 5 to bind together and prevent rattle. The holes 9 in the stay may be relatively inclined to the pin 10 to give the turning movement. The stay may be held down on the pin by a spring plunger 14 in a guide 7. In the form shown in Figs. 9 and 10, the main portion 1 of the stay is flat, the holes 11 are normal to the plane of the stay, and the pivotal end 16 is slightly twisted out of the plane of 1, so that when the hole 11 engages the pin 10, the pivotal hole 4 assumes the position shown in Fig. 10, and binds on the pivot 5. The hole 4 may be of various shapes.
